Johny Salama: I sought refuge in Australia in 2013 after escaping war-torn Syria. I practice art since childhood and had experimented with various media and styles none of which I own after escaping Syria. Being a Melbourne resident, that enabled me to resume my artworks in addition to designing creative furniture using wood and other organic and recycled material which are locally and sustainably sourced. I participated in many groups exhibition and awarded Judge’s Choice for Best Exploration of Festival Themes at Sacrededge Art Exhibition at Uniting Church in Queenscliff, Victoria 2019.
